2019 was wrapped up in style on the 12th of December, as the finals of the of our Inter Provincial Tournament were played out in Sports City. The Railway Cup style competition was played out over two nights with both Hurling and Football taking centre stage.

The big winners on the night were Connacht who took the hurling crown, whilst Munster narrowly beat a determined Ulster side to come out on top in the football. Other awards of note were for Eoghan Ryan who added to his personal trophy haul with another accolade, capturing the coveted Wooden Spoon award for the hurlers. The Spoon for the footballers went to and injury stricken Ulster "B" side, whilst the Plate final was won by Leinster who welcomed back veteran Eoin Finn and had a goal hungry John O`Shea (who must be starving now) leading the attack.

The player of the tournament award was a difficult decision but eventually went to Ulster's  standout performer Ailbhe Boyle. Along with some scintillating displays for the Northern region, the Farney woman's best moment was when she sold a dummy to former Galway star Keith Kelly who was sent to the shop for two bags of crisps and was last spotted wandering around Kickers Bar trying to find his way back with the change.

After the action on the pitch came the action off it. The players gathered for drinks, music and loads of laugher as resident flautist Luke Brannock orchestrated proceedings. A big thank you to James O'Connell, Sinead Kelly and Luke Dooley for keeping things moving on the field and to Rachel Corcoran for keeping it going after.

This was a great send off for many club members who were making the long journey home to spend Christmas with their families. It was also night of reflection of both the highs and lows experienced by the club in the past year. This was hilighted by the inaugural presentation of the Fiona Geraghty Memorial Trophy to the overall winners of the competition and a poignant reminder of how lucky we are to have a little slice of home here in the Middle East.

Jumeirah Gaels GAA Dubai would like to take this opportunity to thank all its sponsors, managers, members, players and followers for their support over the year and wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous 2020.
