Jumeirah Gaels GAA Club was founded in Dubai in March 2015, born from a shared desire to create a new home for Gaelic games in the Middle East.

The story began when a small group of friends - made up of Kentz Dubai colleagues, former Qatar GAA players and other GAA enthusiasts - entered a social team in a Middle East GAA tournament in Abu Dhabi. Their strong first outing took them all the way to the final, where they were narrowly beaten by Sharjah Gaels. Encouraged by that experience, the group officially entered the 2015/16 Middle East GAA League as a Junior club.

The club made an immediate impact. Victories in Bahrain and Dubai during its inaugural season secured Junior A championship honours and promotion to Intermediate level for the 2016/17 season. From an initial training group of only 6 to 8 players, Jumeirah Gaels quickly grew into one of the region’s leading GAA communities, with more than 80 players attending men’s and ladies’ training in that first year alone.

Since then, the club has continued to grow both on and off the field. Jumeirah Gaels now offers Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie, with teams competing at Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Social grades. The club welcomes players of all abilities - from experienced competitors to complete beginners - as well as people who simply want to be part of the community.

Based in The Sevens Stadium, Jumeirah Gaels is proud to be more than a sports club. It is a home away from home: a place to meet people, build friendships, celebrate Irish culture and enjoy the craic in Dubai.

Our journey began with a handful of friends and a single social team. Today, the blue and yellow of Jumeirah Gaels represents a thriving, inclusive club community and an enduring passion for Gaelic games in the UAE.
